Fernet Branca, Gin, Vermouth, Curaçao Triple Sec
Ranked by rating · 94 recipes · updated daily
White wine fortified with spirits and flavoured with various botanicals and spices, the sugar content is much lower than sweet vermouth.
History
Vermouth originated in Turin in the late 19th century original as a medicinal tonic but it soon became popular in bars before finding it's way into a number of classic cocktails.
Usage
A Martini isn't a Martini without Dry Vermouth, Winston Churchill's opinion not withstanding. It's a key player in that drink but is often a supporting part in other drinks where sweeter or more bitter flavours take centre stage.
